Carolyn has been teaching music for over 45 years
Carolyn Johnson Spargo, as a 16 year old, began her teaching career in 1973. She continued her passion of teaching learning at the University of MInnesota, and then at Augsburg College for a smaller classroom music setting. In 1980, Carolyn received her Bachelor of Arts and teachers license in Music Education, K-12.
Carolyn has had experience teaching all ages and levels of students, from preschool to adult. Lessons correspond to the student’s ability and interest. Some are prepped for contests and theory tests while others learn through pieces that inspire them. All lead to learning the piano and accordion as a lifelong skill.
Carolyn continued her education with Masters of Leadership and an emphasis on a music study done in Nicaragua on the impact of music in a music program’s lives of the former students.
Carolyn is a professor through North Central University teaching Music Appreciation classes and a college ensemble.
The American Swedish Institute Cloudberries is a Swedish women’s chorus which was started by Carolyn in 2004. They have sung locally and on both coasts of the USA. Carolyn also plays Swedish accordion and fiddle music with her family, “Versk Spargo” and the Vasa Junior Swedish Folk Dancers.
